The Eiffel Tower History

Eiffel Tower History. The Eiffel Tower was originally built to impress the visitors for the 1889 year world exhibition, Exposition Universelle. The purpose was actually to be a temporary contribution to the Paris silhouette.

It was designed and drew by the French engineer Gustave Eiffel and become violent criticized by the 17th centuries aesthetes. The author Guy de Maupassant usually ate at the Eiffel Tower to avoid seeing it.

The tower was the world’s highest building until 1931, when the Empire State Building in New York was finished. Today this tower is the symbol of Paris. It has recent been renovated and got new lighting.

There is a exhibition at the first floor where they show a short movie at the Gustave Eiffel and the 1889 years world exhibition. It was not meant that this tower should be permanent or the symbol of Paris. It was with the radio transmission it got a raison d'ętre.

This 324 meters high tower, who ones was despised, is today the queen among the monuments of Paris. The face-lift, which the tower was given related to its 100 years day, was coincides with the new contract.
